For Memorial Day weekend we decided to be brave and try camping with both kids for the first time. We went to Lava Hot Springs which is really a good place to go with kids. The campground is grassy and it has real bathrooms with showers! Addison and Gavin were so excited to play in the tent as soon as we set it up.

As soon as we got the tent up, we ate dinner. Both kids were starving! Addison has discovered juice boxes and straws, although she likes to take the straw out and make a big mess.

On Saturday we went swimming. It was a beautiful day and the kids loved the water. There were waterslides but Gavin was too short to go on them. Addison turned out to be a handful. She played in her little boat thing for a while but then she wanted to get out. We took her out but she didn't want to be held either. She kept trying to jump out of our hands. By the time we thought about taking pictures Addison was done, so we didn't get any.
Our camp site was right next to the playground, which is where we spent a lot of time. Addison loved the swing.

After waiting for it to stop raining again (it rained every day but Friday), Gavin and Carl went fishing at the Trout Farm. Gavin caught 3 fish and he was very proud of himself (especially since Carl didn't catch any). Gavin even tried eating it and he said he liked it.

Gavin had a lot of fun finding snails. He was walking around with both hands full of snails so we got a board for him to put them on. He wanted to bring them home but we convinced him that they needed to stay there, so he threw them in the fire. Sometimes I don't understand his logic!

Before we left on Monday, Carl and Gavin went tubing down the river. Carl said the water was numbingly cold. They flipped once but they had a good time, despite the huge scrape on Carl's leg.

Overall we had a good time, but I don't think we will be going again anytime soon. At least not until Addison understands the meaning of the word "no". There was no sitting down to relax with her on the move. By the time we got home I was exhausted!
