July

For the 4th of July we went to our annual barbecue at Carl's parents house. They had a little wading pool for the kids which Addison loved but of course I forgot to take pictures. The kids and boys also had a water fight with water balloons and water guns. I think the "adult" boys have more fun than the kids! We ate tons of yummy food (I had to take a picture of my patriotic dessert).
And of course we had to have fireworks! Addison liked throwing the pops.

She wasn't so sure about the sparklers and she went to bed part way through the fireworks but Gavin is just like his Daddy. He loves the fireworks!

On one of our weekly outings we went to the Natural History Museum. Addison loved being able to run from one thing to the next (although it was kind of hard because it was very crowded). Gavin's favorite part was the dinosaurs.

We also went to the Gale Museum of History. Gavin really liked walking through the mine area.

Addison loved playing in the house/store area and she really loved sitting in the old fashioned car. She did not want to get out.

Gavin caught some fish.

And of course we couldn't leave without going outside to see the big machines!

Hogle Zoo & Demolition Derby

We spent the day at the zoo on Saturday for my mom's company party. It was a great day to be outside. Gavin and Addison love to look at all the different animals. Gavin's favorite part is the small animal house with all of the snakes, lizards, frogs, etc. I think he spent more time in there then he did anywhere else in the zoo. Addison liked pointing at all of the animals.

After waiting in line for 25-30 minutes Gavin decided he didn't want to get his face painted. I finally convinced him to get a picture on his arm. As you can see he picked a frog. He just stuck out his arm and and wouldn't even look at the lady while she painted. Sometimes he can be a real stinker!

At the end of the day we needed some ice cream to cool off. This was Addison's first experience eating an ice cream cone. She seemed to enjoy it.

By the time we left the zoo it was after 4:00 and both kids were exhausted. They were asleep within minutes. But this was not the end of our day. After a quick rest Carl, Gavin, and I were off to the Demolition Derby (Addison went to play with Grandma).

Gavin loves the Demolition Derby. He asks all year long when it is going to be derby time. This one was especially exciting because one of the cars got pushed all the way over. We were glad that our friend Sarah (Gavin's favorite teacher from daycare) could come with us. We will be going to another one in August if anyone wants to join us.
