I am trying to catch up with my blog so here is what we did during the month of June.
We went to our annual ward carnival. The kids always have a lot of fun. Gavin was a little disappointed that his best friend wasn't there, but he still managed to have fun. Afterwards, they got to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a sleepover in the teepee.
During the summer we try to have a weekly activity. In June we went to Discovery Gateway and Wheeler Farm. Gavin was so excited to have some friends his own age at Discovery Gateway. He definitely plays much better when he doesn't have to do things by himself. Addison could care less. She had a blast. She was old enough this time to really get into all of the activities.
It was such a nice day when we went to Wheeler Farm, not too hot and a little bit overcast. Gavin and Addison enjoyed feeding the ducks and looking at all of the animals. Addison thought it was funny that the pig was sleeping. Gavin pointed out a huge rat in with the goats. He thought it was the coolest thing. I, on the other hand, was grossed out! Rather than go on the wagon ride again we decided to try out the ponies, which the kids loved. (I was a little disappointed that their ride was so short.) The nice thing about these outings is that they usually wear Addison out enough that she will actually come home and take a nap!
We also had a fun family home evening on fire safety where we talked about what to do if there is a fire in the house and made a plan of where to meet. The kids made fire hats and for our treat we made a fire in Carl's new fire bowl, roasted marshmallows, and made smores.
